Skills and Training
Support to get the right skills for your business
Prospect Leicestershire are working closely with a network of partner organisations to provide solutions to companies needing the right skills in the right place at the right time.
University Partnerships
Our relationships with De Montfort University, Loughborough University and University of Leicester can help your graduate recruitment go further than the undergraduate milk round. Visit our Three Universities for Business section for more information on these partnerships.
Through direct links with faculties, we have assisted companies to create innovative ways of accessing talent.
Undergraduate and Postgraduate Placements and Internships
These are often project based and allow companies to avail of university research and development resources for innovation and development. Many placement students join their sponsor companies after completing their studies giving you a graduate with experience in your company's business.
Foundation Degrees and Lifelong Learning
These enable your staff to learn higher level skills to complement their experience. If a skills gap exists, it is an effective way to "home grow" the skills. Programmes can be tailored to the needs of individual companies and, as they use newer learning technologies, do not require frequent job release for university attendance.
The above schemes are flexible and could be eligible for funding.
Vocational and Craft Skills
Through our skills partners including Train 2 Gain, The Learning and Skills Council, Colleges and private sector training providers, we can broker funded solutions for your staff to learn new skills or upgrade existing skills to a higher level.
These include:
- NVQ qualifications in a wide variety of disciplines
- Apprenticeships and Modern Apprenticeships.
Basic Skills
We can broker many solutions to basic skills in the following areas:
- Numeracy
- Literacy
- Basic IT skills
- English as a second language (ESOL)
- Specialist pre-employment training schemes in construction, retail and basic office skills.
Companies can also benefit from the new 'Train to Gain' service to ensure staff have the right skills to do the best job. For further information on training and skills in Leicestershire visit the Train to Gain website.
