St George's North
St George’s North is the area around Lee Circle, in the city centre and next to the new cultural quarter.
The area aims to bring a new lease of life to the area, with a new urban village of around 1,700 homes as well as local facilities.
Our initial focus is on the other major housing opportunities in Leicester, at Abbey Meadows and the Waterside, but we will support and encourage individual developers of suitable schemes in the area in the meantime.
We are in discussions with several developers to bring forward projects.
Work began last year on developing 129 apartments at the Telereal building on Wharf Street. This adjoins the 86 apartments in Leicester House.
Environmental improvements are planned in the near future in Wharf St to support this development activity.
