Creative Industries
Leicester is the second most creative city in the UK*
The city and county are home to some 3,500 creative businesses covering activities including architecture, fashion, printing, graphic design and software design.
Leicester has been named as the UK's joint second most creative city behind only London in its contribution to the nation's cultural growth. The Boho index, produced by the think-tank Demos, recognised Leicester's diversity and tolerance as helping to foster a creative environment.
As a result, there has been an increase in support networks for businesses including Design Leicestershire and Leicestershire Creatives to aid for buyers of design and Creative LeicesterShire, which provides business support and access to finance to creative companies.
Leicestershire also provides a number of highly-successful business incubator facilities such as the Leicester Creative Business Depot, Phoenix Square digital media centre currently under construction in the city's cultural quarter and the Ferrer's Centre in Castle Donington.
