Food and Drink
The strong food & drink industry has its roots in Leicestershire's traditional gastronomic specialities, including Stilton and Red Leicester cheeses and the world famous Melton Mowbray Pork Pie. Other food and drink industries doing particularly well include production of meat and poultry, fruit and veg and snack food production.
The sector has been enriched by the introduction of flavours and tastes from the area's diverse cultures and is one of Leicestershire's growth industries.
Leicestershire is the home of companies such as Samworth Brothers, Pedigree Masterfoods (PepsiCo), Walkers Snack Foods, based at the world's largest snack food factory, and Everards Brewery.
