15-02-2010 | “Modern and buzzing” Phoenix Square in Leicester welcomes its first occupier

Phoenix Square has welcomed Minority Supplier Development UK (MSDUK) to one of its seven contemporary office studio spaces. The company is the first commercial tenant to move in, stating that it's the modern and sustainable design, as well as the buzzing atmosphere which makes Phoenix Square fit its needs perfectly.

MSDUK is a not-for-profit organisation providing ethnic minority businesses with direct access to the procurement organisations of major UK-based corporations, as well as offering assistance in the development of best practice supplier diversity programmes. The business moved into Phoenix Square on 05 February 2010 and has settled into its self-contained office which boasts a contemporary open-plan design with a fully glazed frontage, access to a private courtyard and use of the state-of-the-art meeting facilities. MSDUK will also benefit from the building's eco-friendly features which will lower the business' long term running costs.

Mayank Shah, Director of MSDUK, said: "We were looking for a much bigger space in Leicester city centre to house our growing team and Phoenix Square was instantly attractive to us. The modern and environmentally friendly aspects of the studio space were important but it was the creative and communal feel of the building that really sold it to us, as MSDUK's whole philosophy is based around working with others. There is always an exciting buzz around the place. This, combined with the impressive meeting and conference facilities we need being on our doorstep, made Phoenix Square an obvious choice."

Peter Connolly, Development Director at Blueprint, added: "After already filling half of the residential apartments since opening in November, it's great to be able to focus now on our commercial offering and welcome MSDUK. The Cultural Quarter has been developed to form a creative and innovative community in Leicester city centre and the feedback from MSDUK that we've been able to achieve this at Phoenix Square is fantastic.

"The offices are self-contained but with easy access to the communal and public areas of the building, we're confident that the spaces are as flexible as the terms we offer - offices are for sale or lease and we can meet individual requirements. The green credentials of Phoenix Square also mean that running costs and service charge are among the lowest on offer in the city, making the office space a sustainable choice in the long term, so we encourage interested parties to get in touch and have a chat about how their needs can be met here."

Phoenix Square is a unique cultural building which combines contemporary living space, with independent arts cinema, café bar, state of the art workspaces and office studios to house Leicester's growing number of creative businesses. It is the creation of a partnership project between Blueprint, Phoenix, Leicester City Council in collaboration with De Montfort University and is an example of 21st century sustainable building design, coupled with leading-edge architectural quality.
